There is an old man and his dog that live in the same building as the boy, and all the time he can hear the old man yelling and screaming at his poor little dog, the dog has patches of fur missing and scabs all over his little body. The old man's name is Salamano and you never see him without that old dog. But when Raymond and Meursault (the boy) had come back to the building, old  Salamano was standing on the doorstep with out his dog. The boys were wondering where he was because they were never apart. They proceeded to ask him where his dog was and he replied that he took him to a the Parade Ground and he stopped to watched 'The King of the Escape Artists' and when he turned back around, and was ready to go, the dog wasn't there. He must have ran away from him and he didn't know it. He also mentioned that he'd been meaning to get him a smaller collar just hadn't gotten around to it. They all soon went on with their night, and later on Monsieur Meursault and Raymond heard the old man crying because his dog was gone and he thought he'd never see him again. The next day while Meursault was at work, his boss called him into his office and he was there thinking that he was in trouble for maybe talking on the phone too much and not concentrating on his work enough. But his boss soon let him know that he wanted him to start working out of Paris and that's because he's young and able to move around and travel without having to worry about a family. But there is still one thing that he's worried about... Marie. So in the end of their discussion, he decline's his boss' offer.

  3. I guess this is still The Strangers. But what irony! What man yells and hits a poor little dog and crys himself to sleep because, deep down in his old heart, he loved it like a son? Ohhhhhh, I don't get it anymore.

  4. No, its the old man and the dog are the boys neighbor. He sees the old man every once and while outside the building. So the first couple pages of this chapter were about the old man and his dog from the boys point of view. Sorry for the confusion!!

  5. I guess the old man could never express his love for his dog. Some people are definitely like that. They can be really mean to someone, but once that person's gone, they realize just how much they love them. Still, he should be nicer to his dog.

    1. I totally agree. But thats how it works almost all the time. People want want want, but they're never satisfied. Sometimes their obsessions can lead to losing someone or something important to them. Thats when they finally see the error of their ways, but its too late
